Assessing online Resources on The Brain and Learning
The brain and learning is a major topic in teaching and instructional design platforms. In my post, I am going to discuss some sources that are available online which I think have a great influence on an instructional designer.
Firstly I would like to bring to your attention the site
that a volume about the topic Inside
the Learning Brain. In this article, the author starts by sharing the
experience he has in the field of training and development and highlights the
topic as an emerging field of neuroeducation. In my own opinion, this article
has a greater value due to the aspects covered. It covers a lot of issues of
the brain and learning and increasing knowledge of people being a key to
innovation. The articles have great relevance on my level as I study
instructional designing. It adds to my knowledge of the topic which is a
current issue. One other issue addressed
in this article is how the brain works during the learning process, “The brain remembers the first part and
the last part of a training initiative best.”An idea that we need to use
as a learning technique that enhances memory formation is also addressed in the
article. and he said,” Learning techniques that have shown to enhance memory
formation include elaborating, verbalizing, writing and drawing, and sharing
learned information during and at the end of a learning session.”A lot
is said about the topic that is addressing the main purposes of learning.
The second one is a blog that discusses the
issue, What
is Information Processing Theory?: Using it in Your Corporate Training. In this
blog, she starts by defining information processing theory as, “ a cognitive theory
that focuses on how information on how the information is encoded into our
memory.” She goes on elaborating the history of information processing theory. The
great part is the diagram showing encoding of information into long-term
memory.
This blog actually adds my knowledge on the subject. She also addressed strategies that can be put to use to ensure that our students have n in-depth Knowledge. This includes breaking up information into smaller parts, making it meaningful, connecting the dots, and repeating the information in different formats. This information is presented objectively.
